Downside Up

He empties all the water bodies
Pours them in one giant tumbler
And splashes the sky with the salty reality
To wake it up from its day-dream of existence

Sits back and watches
The fishes glide on fins
The birds swim with wings
Where the puddles don’t have to be stepped in
And the smoke filters through the water
The drifting water weeds hang from the sky
like giant curtains dividing man and mind
The corals find a home in the stars
Those superheroes swim to our rescue

Until it all falls back to rest
Like the water spilt from the bottle
of that black-eyed child

  1. Very rarely do I visit a blog for the very first time and have a post hit me as poignantly as this one did. I don’t know how I haven’t stumbled upon your words before now, but am very grateful that I did today. This poem is one of my favorites found on any blog.

      3. Well, then I encourage you to KEEP WRITING!! 🙂 Your words and imagery are refreshing and inspiring.
Thank you for the compliment. You must have tripped over some of my better pieces! LOL I do write a variety — from the naughty to the melancholy to the romantic. All depends on my mood as I tend to be a very emotional writer instead of a technical one.
Your style is unique and needed … don’t every forget that!!

      4. Aw, that has to be the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me…unique and needed…I’ll recall this whenever I feel demotivated (and that happens a lot). ❤
Ah, I am sure your previous work was as exquisite as the latest, I have to check that out too! And I really do think that emotional writers are better as they are so in sync with their feelings that they can put it in words, which is miraculous and not everybody can do that.
Today has been one of the best since I have joined WordPress! I got to talk to someone amazing as you!! 🙂

  2. Reblogged this on Sea of Desire and commented:
There are times when we stumble upon someone’s words that take us to another place (a good place). Today, that happened to me. This piece screamed for a home in the Sea of Desire. 🙂

  3. Hi – Thanks for following my blog! I’m happy you discovered mine, because this has led me to your beautiful, lyrical poetry. Like Desiree G, this poem is so far my favourite (I haven’t had the chance to fully explore). This is the magic which takes place when science weds art.

This statement of yours really made my day – ‘The magic which takes place when science weds art’. How true.
