My head
like camphor
it melts
Alighted by the
constant agitation
Your stare
That twitch
on your bright face
My hands
running though
the prey
I’ll fight it back
My hands
They are steady now
I pluck another strand
This one is different
from the rest
I swear
and, another
One at a time
I say
One at a time
I can’t
This restlessness
it is my cure
I’ll fight it back
I promise
Your stare
That twitch
on your dark face
it’s all so
calming now

Thank you, Z. 🙂
I wrote this to spread a little awareness if I could. It can be quite difficult to overcome trichotillomania, and I think we all can make an effort. Thanks again! ❤

Thanks for the read, Meredith…it’s something I have been living with for almost a decade now, maybe that resonates in the poem. I’m glad you clicked on the picture too, i wish awareness about trich on more people so that no one wards it off saying ‘it’s just a phase’ which was done in my case.
I’m grateful for your presence on my blog, M.

Wow, what a powerful piece, my friend. Certainly glad I clicked on the info photo. I had no idea what this was until I did. Sounds like a pretty intense and controlling condition.
Good job at stating that.

Thanks for the support, Staci. It really is a controlling condition to the point where it is almost incurable. I’m glad you are aware of it now. 🙂

Brilliantly written thoughts! Seriously, like many, I was not aware of this condition though I saw few in my circle dealing with it. What a pity………..the sufferers, knowing that it is damaging to act on their impulses but still cannot stop the urge. Anxiety and depression aggravates this but little love and happiness goes a long way in controlling this. All I say is…………Prayers of Healing. Stay peaceful! 🙂

Thanks, R. Yes, as you said, it’s pretty common but people ward it off thinking that it’ll stop but it never does unless proper treatment is taken. I came to know about it, something I’ve been suffering from for the last decade, just two years ago and it was as shocking as reasonable. I’m really grateful for the support and understanding you have towards this condition.
Take care. 🙂

Thank you for the support, John. It is indeed a very less known term but the victims are not less in number, even they are not aware of it, and they need help. Thanks for all the prayers, my friend. Appreciate it a lot. Blessings for you.
