To tell apart

she hugged a book tight
adequately
so as to push her
skin towards her
existence

to bridge a sky of gap
infested by guilt-ridden
presumptions flying over
a rainbow of childhood dreams
sprinkled with sparkling
pride reflecting in the sun
of exaggeration

but force by inheritance
has only ever
broken

regardless of the
subject’s presence
